Buying a House in Today’s Market
Buying a House in Today’s Market
Let’s get something out of the way: this isn’t 2021.
Interest rates are higher. Home prices are higher. And if you’ve been waiting for everything to magically get cheaper at the same time… you might be waiting a while.
But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad time to buy a house.
Here’s the thing: you’re not buying the housing market. You’re buying one house.
One house, from one seller, in one neighborhood. And that particular deal might look a whole lot different than whatever headline you read this morning.
Some homes are sitting longer. Some sellers are willing to help with closing costs. Builders may have incentives. And depending on the property, there may be room to negotiate on price, repairs, or even money toward buying down your interest rate.
Does that mean everyone should run out and buy a house right now?
Nope.
If the monthly payment makes you uncomfortable, if buying would wipe out your savings, or if you’re just not ready — don’t buy a house. There will be another one.
But if you’re waiting because you think there’s going to be some magical moment when rates drop, prices fall, and nobody else wants to buy… I wouldn’t build a plan around that either.
The better question isn’t “Is now a good time to buy?”
It’s “Does buying a house make sense for me right now?”
That’s something we can actually figure out.
If you’re thinking about buying in Summerville or the Charleston area, give me a call. We’ll run the numbers, look at what’s out there, and figure out whether buying makes sense.
No pressure. No crystal ball. Just real estate.
